Carlene Gibbons, RN

Carlene Gibbons, RN, is a Research Nurse at San Diego Hospice and The Institute for Palliative Medicine (SDHIPM). In this role she recruits patients for research studies at San Diego Hospice & Palliative Care, participates in the coordination of research studies, maintains the research group data base for study candidates and daily patient log, and participates in assessment, development and implementation of research group projects.  As a research nurse, Carlene has coordinated studies for the University of Alabama; the United States Department of Agriculture; and the Southern California Kaiser Permanente Medical Group.

Carlene graduated from the School of Nursing, Women’s Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (now Drexel University), and continued undergraduate course work at Cedar Crest College and Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania. As a nurse, Carlene has had a broad range of nursing experience that includes working in private physician practices, allergy and asthma clinics, conducting patient and community education, business development in a medical product company, and as an online nurse consultant.
