Mr. Pirrello is originally from Chicago, Illinois. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business from Northern Illinois University in 1975. In 1977, he received a Master of Science in Business Education from Northern Illinois University and taught on the high school and community college levels in suburban Chicago.
He moved to San Diego in 1980, and received a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from National University in 1989. He has worked in the areas of child abuse, juvenile probation, alcohol and drug treatment, domestic violence and sexual assault as a therapist, clinical supervisor, program manager and director of clinical services. He has had a private practice as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1992.
Mr. Pirrello joined the staff of San Diego Hospice & Palliative Care in 2006. He is a Clinical Supervisor in the Counseling Internship Program in The Center for Grief Care and Education. He provides individual and group supervision, training and mentoring to local, national and international interns from colleges and universities throughout the United States.
