Judi McCarter, MT, AA, BS

Judi McCarter is Director, Grants Management for The Institute for Palliative Medicine at San Diego Hospice (SDHIPM), a teaching affiliate of the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine. Judi implements and supervises all grant-related management activities and provides management oversight and reporting on all federal and private grants. Judi successfully completed a Grants Management Certification Program in 2007. She also oversees the monitoring and management of expenses and revenues for The Institute for Palliative Medicine.

Judi is a certified Medical Technologist, MT (AMT), CLT (HEW), CLA (ASCP) with over twenty-five years extensive leadership experience in the areas of operations, regulatory compliance, finance, training, grants management, sales, and marketing within the healthcare industry in small business, corporate, and nonprofit environments.  Prior to joining the staff at The Institute for Palliative Medicine in March of 2005, Judi held the position of Associate Vice President, Patient Services, at Laboratory Corporation of America, one of the world’s largest clinical laboratories. In her executive leadership role, Judi was responsibility for the nationwide management of 6,000 employees and 1,000 patient service centers. 

Judi received an Associate in Arts degree with high honors in Healthcare Management from Hagerstown Community College in Hagerstown, Maryland in 1991.  In addition, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree Magna cum laude in Business Administration with a minor in Sociology from California State University, San Marcos  in 2004.
