Mary Pat Warner, MA, MS, MFT is a clinical supervisor at the Center for Grief Care and Education at San Diego Hospice and The Institute for Palliative Medicine.  She is an approved AAMFT Supervisor who provides clinical supervision and guidance to the graduate and postgraduate counselors.   As a member of our faculty, Mary Pat teaches several classes including Grief Education, Application of Grief Theories, Complicated Grief, Coping with the Holidays, Parenting During Grief, Crisis Management, and Understanding Group Dynamics.  Mary Pat also works directly with the San Diego community providing counseling, debriefs, workshops, and education about SDHIPM.   Mary Pat serves as a liaison with several public schools and has also partnered with a local chapter of Girl Scouts to create a life skills patch.

Mary Pat’s background experiences include private practice, counseling severely disturbed students, working with patients in an alcohol and drug treatment program, and developing a drug prevention program for children of alcoholics. She was also a special education high school teacher for over ten years.  Mary Pat received her BA and MA in Special Education and her MS degree in counseling at San Diego State University.
