May Bull, RN, BSN, CHPN

May M. Bull, RN, BSN, CHPN is a Clinical Educator in the Center for Advanced Learning at San Diego Hospice and The Institute for Palliative Medicine (SDHIPM). May is responsible for teaching different topics of Clinical Development, preparing material for CHHA monthly in-services, is a master facilitator for the Long Term Care project and is involved in the mentor training.  She has been associated with San Diego Hospice and the Institute for Palliative Medicine for 12 years starting as a homecare case manager and for the past 5 years in the Center for Advanced Learning.

May trained as a RN at the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh, Scotland in 1966, and trained as a Midwife in 1967. Her first involvement with home care was in South Africa in 1973. She received her Bachelors of Science in nursing degree from the college of California State Dominguez Hills  in 1995. She has her Hospice and Palliative care certification 2001 and 2005. In Oct 2005 she was the recipient of the Southern California Palliative Pain Initiative award. She has been involved at San Diego Hospice with the strategic planning and implementation of a pain series which has been taught to new and existing staff since April 2005.
