All third-year medical students at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine spend one day per week for two weeks at IPM where they are introduced to both inpatient and home-based palliative care. They also sped two additional days in the classroom and (EXPAND) . This training ensures that new graduates meet the requirements for experience in palliative and end-of-life care for licensure in California.
Medical students at all stages are invited to pursue electives through the Institute. Fourth-year students are eligible to apply for month-long sub-internships. In addition, the Institute hosts students from medical schools across the country for visits and clinical clerkships.
