Each year, a growing number of pharmacy students from schools around the country come to the Center to learn about symptoms occurring in patients with advanced illness. They experience the interdisciplinary approach to patient/family care. They have the opportunity to practice alongside clinical pharmacists and develop symptom treatment plans, consult with the interdisciplinary team and monitor patients’ responses to therapies. Pharmacy students also have opportunities to attend rounds, participate in patient visits, attend conferences and have regular meetings with their preceptors.
