Tanya Dansky, MD, is the Medical Director for the San Diego Hospice and The Institute for Palliative Medicine’s Children’s Program.  In this role she coordinates care for the pediatric patients followed at home and in the Inpatient Care Center as well as providing Hospice and Palliative Care Consults at Rady Children’s Hospital and other health care facilities in San Diego serving infants and children.  The patients range in age from prior to birth (the Perinatal Hospice program), to infancy, childhood and adolescence. She also gives lectures and educational programs for San Diego Hospice & Palliative Care staff and outside agencies on the topics of Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Care, Pain and Symptom Management, and Developmentally Appropriate Communication with Children About Terminal Illness and Death. She has given grand rounds on these topics at Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital, Scripps Mercy , Paradise Valley  and University California, San Diego, and Balboa Naval Hospital. Dr. Dansky also participates in the education of medical students, residents and fellows.

Dr. Dansky received her BS in Physiology from the University of California Davis in 1991. She then received her MD degree from USC School of Medicine  in Los Angeles in 1995.  She completed her internship and residency in Pediatrics at University California, San Diego Medical Center and completed an extra year as a Chief Resident in Pediatrics.  She worked as a Pediatric Hospitalist with Children’s Specialists for 8 years. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics   and in Palliative Medicine. Dr. Dansky brings to The Institute for Palliative Medicine at San Diego Hospice a commitment to improving access to palliative services for all of the children of San Diego. She was the recipient of the Southern California Pain Initiative Award of Excellence in 2008 and the YWCA TWIN Award (Tribute to Women in Industry) in 2009.
